’Dhamchiya’ or ‘Damchiya’ is what was an Indian bride’s dresser used in earlier times. Most commonly used in the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, these wooden damhiya furniture pieces were used as hope chests to store a bride’s dowry and after the wedding, these were used as antique blanket boxes for storing blankets & clothes, and other valuables.
In modern times like ours, they make for great show stoppers in our hallways and can also be used as kitchen cabinets, bed linen storage, etc.
